House Remodel Tour-Part 1

Yo-Ho Yo-Ho a Pirates Life for Hayden
As I mentioned before we've done some extensive remodeling this past year, so here is the beginning of the "grand" tour

Part one...the kids new rooms

The chest of drawers & bed frame are Rob's from when he was young & I was thrilled that they fit the room so well!!

One of Hayden's favorites in his room is the bell hanging next to the light switch (it's REALLY loud so the other kids don't like it much, but he LOVES it).
I still need to make his window treatments and put leather straps on the toy chest, but outside of that Hayden's room is finished.

Oh How Sweet Life Is for Rachel

It was kind of terrifying to put this much pink on the walls, but it turned out well and it's not nearly as Pepto-ish as it first seemed.

The cupcake stands we found at Hobby Lobby this summer were too fun to pass up!!
Her room is the least done...I still have to make window treatments, throw pillows and a bed skirt (hopefully I will get to those next week)

"This is not your father's Oldsmobile" (Ben's door letter isn't done yet)

My dad thought I had lost my mind when I told him I wanted the walls covered in sheet metal, but he did it any way & it turned out awesome!! Now I don't have to worry as much about my walls getting dinged!

The obvious thing I still need to finish is the nightstand...eventually it will all be red.
He got the best closet of all the kids...the girls were a little bitter at first.

A favorite in Ben's room for me are the coat hooks and

and his clock

Ooh-La-La Lauren

The silver paint was a nightmare to apply...let base coat dry for 6 hours then apply another base coat in arching strokes(same drying time), then apply top metallic coat making sure to back brush after every 2 feet of painting. But the results are beautiful!!!

One of her favorite things in the room (and mine too) is her chandelier.

It has made such a difference having all of the kids in the basement. The house stays cleaner, the chaos seems more manageable (I had 11 kids running through the house at one time & I didn't want to cry), and the phrase "I really don't like my roommate" hasn't been heard in months!
